Counselors-in-training (CITs) have finished Freshman year of High School. Up to a total of 6 youth will be enrolled in the program each summer. The goal of the program is to develop leadership skills in leading groups and program facilitation. Counselors-in-training will assist Lead Counselors in group facilitation and even get in facilitating programs themselves. This position can be up to a 9 week commitment with 1 week of intensive training and 8 weeks of camp available.


  • Assist and support Lead Counselors
  • Attend trainings and individual meetings throughout summer
  • Complete individual duties as set up by supervisor (cleaning, etc.)
  • Assist and support other counselors during programming time
  • Form positive, supportive relationships with girls


  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Creative with the ability to improvise and make use of available materials
  • Positive attitude and willingness to participate in each scheduled activity
  • Advocate for gender, racial, age and ethnic equality
  • Commitment and reliability on a weekly basis
  • Must be able to commit to the schedule set at sign up
  • Must attend a mandatory training May 28th – May 31st (9am – 5pm)


  • Must be able to withstand outdoor activity in high summer temperatures
  • Must know how to swim
  • Must be able to carry coolers, backpacks, supplies, etc
  • Must show up for all shifts reliably and on time


  • Mid-summer to discuss progress, and at the end of the summer
  • Ongoing program evaluations
