Objective: The Programs Assistant will gain experience in administrative aspects of Girls Inc.’s programs for girls ages 5-18. This assistant will gain experience in volunteer management, program evaluation, purchasing program supplies, and maintaining the budget.


  • Responsible for maintaining attendance information by sending daily attendance data to the online database
  • system
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with girls, families, volunteers, and staff members
  • Perform administrative projects as assigned
  • Maintains budget and purchases program supplies
  • Assist and support Program Director, Program Manager and counselors during programming time
  • Supervise groups of children, ensuring safety and well-being of all persons
  • Complete individual duties as set up by supervisor (opening, closing, cleaning, etc.)
  • Forms positive, supportive relationships with girls
  • Drives a 15-passenger bus/van for the after school program and summer camp


  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with children and adults
  • Skill in working with a diversity of persons, ability to facilitate cooperative work
  • Ability to maintain energy, patience, and enthusiasm necessary for working with girls
  • Ability to work independently on one or more tasks
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Creative with the ability to improvise
  • Must be able to commit to a weekly schedule

Special Requirements

  • Must be available 15 hours/week
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be qualified to get a chauffeur’s license
  • Ability to pass a limited criminal history background check
  • Must be 21 years old
