Do you know a woman who deserves recognition for her contributions in the community that support and inspire girls to be “strong, smart, and bold”?
Girls Inc. of Monroe County is accepting nominations for its annual Strong, Smart, and Bold awards. Three exemplary women will be honored and recognized at Girls Inc.’s Annual Luncheon celebration on July 19, 2018 at the Bloomington Country Club.
Last year’s Strong Award winner, Rachel Guglielmo, was honored for her fight against pro-firearm legislation that endangers children and her work educating students and parents about gun sense.
Diane Hanks received the Smart Award for her work as an administrator in Monroe County Community Schools for twenty-four years before her retirement in 2017. Diane advocates for children and parents, especially those who are marginalized in the educational system.
The winner of the Bold Award was Kira Richardson, a specialist at Centerstone, working to prevent substance abuse and HIV infection. She was recognized for her willingness to speak out against injustices in our community.
Nominations for the 2018 Strong, Smart, and Bold Awards must be submitted by April 30, 2018, for consideration.
