Leta Fredrickson Named 2017 Girl of the Year
Bloomington, Ind., July 27, 2017 — Girls Inc. of Monroe County member Leta Fredrickson was honored during the 2017 Annual Luncheon with the Girl of the Year Award. The award is given to a Girls Inc. member who exemplifies the spirit of a Strong, Smart, and Bold girl.
Leta is a long-time member of Girls Inc. of Monroe County, joining the organization in early elementary school. She participated in many activities as a member, and eventually took on leadership roles in programs and in sports.
“We are really proud of Leta and we’re certain she’s ready to do great things in the future,” says Amy Stark, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Monroe County. “She’s a leader and great role model to younger members.”
Leta will start her freshman year at Bloomington South High School in the fall.
Girls Inc. of Monroe County has served girls in Monroe County since 1975. More than 600 girls from age five to eighteen participate in activities and sports at its West 8th Street center and in schools and agencies throughout Monroe County. Girls Inc. offers interactive, research-based activities that provide academic enrichment and instruction in healthy living and life skills.
